Alain Vande Wouwer has teaching activities in the field of mathematical modeling and parametric identification of dynamic systems, numerical simulation, and control in the broad sense (multivariable control, optimal control, predictive control, state estimation) , as part of the Master in Electrical Engineering (Data Science for Dynamical Systems) and the Master in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics).
Alain Vande Wouwer has research activities in line with the current trend of Industry 4.0 and the development of hybrid digital twins combining mathematical modeling and data-based learning. In particular, he is interested in the dynamics of nonlinear systems, in parameter and state estimation techniques, in model-based control, or on the contrary in model-free control (extremum seeking control). His research is developing in different fields of application, including biotechnology and the bioindustries, the environment, mobile robotics and drones.
