Teaching
Carmen Burtea is Professor at the University of Mons, where she is teaching the Cell biology, Complements of cell biology, Methods of molecular targeting & Biomedical applications of molecular imaging (all at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Biomedical sciences) and Biology, including the elements of human genetics (at the Faculty of Psychology and Education). She has supervised or is supervising the activity of several PhD and Master students in Biomedical sciences.
Research
Carmen Burtea is member of the scientific committee of the Belgian Erasme Funds for Medical Research and expert reviewer of the European Commission and of the F.R.S.-FNRS (Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique). She is also member of several scientific societies (International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Federation of European Neuroscience Societies, The European Peptide Society), member of the editorial boards of the World Journal of Oncology and of the Journal of Personalized Medicine, Invited Editor (co-invited editors: Pr. Sven Saussez and Pr. Marc Port) of the journal « Biology » for the special issue « Molecular Targets and Targeting in Biomedical Sciences », and is reviewer of several scientific journals. Her research is focused on molecular interaction of phage-display derived peptides with pathological biomarkers, molecular imaging by MRI, targeted delivery of drugs and contrast agents, modulation of signal transduction pathways in cells, development of molecular-targeted therapeutic and diagnostic agents. These studies have led to the submission of several invention patents.
